Simplicity 1159 Pattern Review

Simplicity 1159 Pattern Review-2 Forgive me, I sewed this dress a couple of weeks ago and am just getting around to posting my official review. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my picture of the dress when I first completed it. (Hint: follow me on Instagram!) Pattern: Mimi G for Simplicity 1159 View A Fabric: Floral rayon from Joann's Fabrics Difficulty: Beginner/Intermediate - Mimi G patterns come with a video sew-a-long done by Mimi G. herself. This is especially helpful if you get caught up on the terminology of pattern instructions. I was able to follow the pattern instructions for the bodice and lining without much confusion. Fitting adjustments: I made a full bust adjustment to the bodice and adjusted my bust dart again to take care of excess fabric above the bust area. This bodice should be flat to the skin for the best look. Additionally, I adjusted my side seams on both the back and front bodice pieces so that my side seams were in the proper place. I also added length to the bodice and to the skirt to accommodate my 5'9" height. Final thoughts: As usual, Mimi G. breathes fresh life into the sewing pattern world with her stylish and sexy patterns. This dress comes with a higher back option, but I chose to sew the low-back option even though it was a bit out of my comfort zone. Because of the flowiness and feminine look of the dress, I did not feel over-exposed in the back at the least. I would recommend a convertible bra for this dress. *wink* I definitely planning on sewing the shorter version with the more fitted skirt and higher back option for the spring.
